Congress demands withdrawal of prohibitory order in Sabarimala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the government should withdraw the prohibitory order issued in Sabarimala. The police action which causes difficulties to Ayyappa devotees cannot be accepted. He added that the attempts of the government to sabotage Sabarimala pilgrimage is going on.
Those who create trouble should be arrested. Ramesh Chennithala also said that the Congress has decided to go ahead with strong protests. The police are not allowing devotees even to camp at Sannidhanam, he stated.
The police action of denying the devotees to camp or to offer ‘Valiya Kanikka’ (hundi collection) cannot be justified. The protest will continue till the prohibitory order is withdrawn, Chennithala said.
‘Denying entry to Vavaru shrine is not justifiable. Our protest is not against the government. We will not hesitate to violate the prohibitory order to ensure that justice is served to the devotees,’ Chennithala said. He was addressing the media before leaving to Sannidhanam.
