Palakkad: CPI (M) interim state secretary and LDF convener A. Vijayaraghavan on Tuesday opined that the Congress has become insignificant and is slowly dying.

The Congress is unable to hold on in states that had been their strongholds. Their MLAs are switching to BJP in hordes. The Congress leadership has been reduced to a group of people wishing to join BJP, he said while addressing a press conference here.

“The present situation is such that any Congress leader could join BJP at any moment. The Congress cadre cannot even trust their leaders. Hence, the significance of LDF is increasing,” said Vijayaraghavan.

Rahul Gandhi came to Kerala and held a tractor rally. However, Congress election manifesto states that they will implement the rules introduced by BJP. The Congress is taking an opportunistic stance over the farm laws. It is the opportunistic stance of Congress which gives BJP the confidence to take the wrong agricultural policies. The Congress must clarify if they will continue their opportunistic stance and soft-Hindutva ideology in Kerala by maintaining their ties with the BJP and Jamaat-e-Islami in the Assembly election also, the CPI (M) leader said.

The cancellation of the MoU regarding deep sea fishing shows the honesty of Kerala government. There is clarity regarding the government’s stance. The LDF government has made it clear that its stance will not change. In reality, it is the credibility of the Opposition leader that is being questioned, said Vijayaraghavan.
