Kozhikode: Lack of arrangements and preparations led to confusion at a university exam centre here. When the students crowded at the centre tensed over the issue, the COVID protocols also were ignored.
About 200 students, who arrived at Malabar Christian College to appear for the BA and BSc fourth semester examination of University of Calicut, had a bitter experience on Thursday.
The university allotted the exam centre at the college and sent the question papers. They also informed the college authorities and chief examiner via email. However, confusion over allowing the candidates who were allotted the centre at the last moment led to the issues.
The students were allowed to enter the hall 30 minutes after the exam commenced. The students and parents were tense during this time. When the students contacted the university authorities, they were instructed to write the exam in the exam centre at Malabar Christian College itself.
College principal Dr Godwin Samraj said that the issue occurred as more number of students changed the exam centre at the last moment and appeared for the exam. Later, these students were allowed to enter the hall after 30 minutes and were given an extra 30 minutes to complete the exam.
