Condition of 89-yr-old corona positive patient from Ranni critical

Kottayam: There are concerns regarding the health condition of the 89-year-old woman and 96-year-old man who are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College here.

They are the parents of the Ranni native, who returned from Italy and was tested positive for coronavirus. There are concerns regarding the Ranni native’s father, who is 96 years old.



The elderly woman is suffering from diabetes while the elderly man has heart ailments. Both have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The son and daughter-in-law of the couple who returned from Italy are undergoing treatment at the Kottayam Medical College. Test results of their children are awaited.

The doctor at Chengalam, whom the family visited initially, is under self-isolation at his house. He was one among many who were in close contact with the family. A total of 28 people were in close contact with the family who returned from Italy. All 28 have been strictly directed to remain in self-isolation at their house.

The family had returned to Kerala on February 29. They had not informed the health department about their travel to Italy. The officials came to know about it after the relatives who visited the family tested positive for COVID-19.
