Complete lockdown under consideration in districts with intense Covid spread: CM
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that implementation of complete lockdown will be considered in the districts where Covid transmission is intense. Stricter restrictions will be imposed in the state from May 4, he said.
The operation of state and central governments will be limited to only essential services. The shops that sell essential items only will be opened. Parcel service will be allowed in hotels. Home delivery is allowed and those deliver items will be subjected to test.
Goods movement will be continued without any interruption. Passengers in railway and airport will not be stopped. Also the movement of oxygen supply and other medical equipments will not be affected, the chief minister informed.
Banks should encourage online transactions. No crowding will be allowed. The limit for people who can attend weddings will remain at 50 and only 20 people can attend funerals. Ration and civil supplies shops will function.
In religious worship centres, only 50 people are allowed. If possible, they should consider reducing the number. This should be decided according to the facilities available.
Treatment should be ensured for the non-Covid patients too. The shortage of staff should not affect the public. People should not form crowd to celebrate election victory, the chief minister stated.
