Complaint over use of religious symbols to woo votes for K. Surendran; probe ordered
Pathanamthitta: Collector P B Nooh here on Sunday directed the district police chief to take immediate steps regarding a complaint that religious symbols were used to seek votes for NDA candidate K. Surendran in Konni.
The direction comes after it was found during preliminary investigations that religious symbols were misused.
The circulation of a video, regarding which the complaint was raised, is in violation if the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the collector has found. Nooh has asked the police chief to identify those who produced and circulated the video and remove it from social media platforms.
Responding to the matter, Surendran denied the allegations and said both the LDF and UDF were trying to tarnish his image as they were afraid of losing the bypolls. Surendran said that the allegations against him were false and added that he would file a complaint in this regard.
