Thiruvananthapuram: A former corporation councillor, Sreekumar, has filed a vigilance complaint against Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran. The complaint seeks an investigation into the temporary appointments made in the past two years by the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
The complaint was filed after a letter that was allegedly written by Rajendran to CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan came out. The letter sought a list of candidates for 295 temporary vacant posts in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. The letter that was sent on November 1.
Rajendran said that she was not in Thiruvananthapuram on the day the letter was sent. Deputy Mayor PK Raju has reacted to the controversy and said the letter was fake.
Opposition parties including the Congress and the BJP have launched protests against the mayor.
