Palakkad: Minister A K Balan filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair and opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala over their statement on Sabarimala issue.
The UDF leaders and the NSS general secretary stated within one hour of starting the poll that this election is a battle between the believers and non-believers. This is a serious allegation. A conspiracy was held to defeat the LDF and its candidates though they always stand up for the believers. This is a violation of the Representation of the People Act and the constitution, A K Balan said.
It was G Sukumaran Nair who first tried to depict the election as a battle between the believers and non-believers. Soon after this, the opposition leader said that the chief minister will have to face the wrath of Lord Ayyappa and that the believers will take revenge on him. UDF and BJP are misusing the faith and tradition in an unprecedented way in the state, Balan further alleged.
