Thiruvananthapuram: A 50-year-old headload worker from Veli, Madhavapuram in Thiruvananthapuram was found dead inside the company on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Prafulakumar and was found hanging inside the Kochuveli English Indian Clays Ltd.
The workers in the company are protesting over the death saying it was caused due to acute poverty. The company remained locked for over 145 days and workers were holding a strike to reopen the unit. Prafulakumar was present on the protest venue till yesterday. Workers of the company said that they would allow the body to be shifted only after the district collector visits them.
Workers said that Prafulakumar was in acute distress and was financially down. He went missing from yesterday evening. His body was found on Saturday morning and he is survived by wife and 2 children.
