Community transmission begins in Pulluvila, Poonthura; Situation critical in TVM


The CM added that more regulations have been implemented in the district as it is one of the worst affected regions in the state.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the situation is critical in the coastal area of Thiruvananthapuram district. Pulluvila, Poonthura, Anchuthengu and Puthukkurishi areas have reached the phase of community transmission. In this context, necessary action will be taken after combining all the departments, he stated during the press meet here.

The CM added that more regulations have been implemented in the district as it is one of the worst affected regions in the state. The rate of disease transmission is rapidly increasing in the coastal areas.

Out of the 97 samples tested in Karinkulam region, 51 tested positive. 26 out of 50 people tested positive at Poonthura Ayush centre. Among the 75 sample tested in Puthukkurishi region, 20 people tested positive. 15 out of 83 people tested positive in Anchuthengu region. These are signs of high rate of disease transmission, he said.

Among the 246 positive cases reported in the district on Friday, only two people came from abroad. 237 people contracted the disease through contact. 4 health workers were diagnosed with the disease, out of which the source of three cases are unknown, the CM said.
