Kuttanad: All members of the Pulinkunnoo local committee, including CPM local committee secretary and area committee members submitted their resignations on Wednesday. The tussle between the local committee and area committee over several matters led to mass resignations.

Earlier, 60 members of the Kavalam local committee had submitted their resignations. In Veliyanadu, 30 workers including a former DYFI state committee member forwarded their resignations.

For the past several months, factionalism has been creating a divide between various party leaders. The local and area committee members often ended up with differences on almost every issue, forcing party leadership to take strong measures against its members.

Meanwhile, CPM district leadership sought immediate intervention from state leadership to resolve the crisis in Alappuzha. To discuss the issue, Minister Saji Cheriyan will chair an area committee meeting in Kuttanad on Thursday.
