As per the new order, the notices are to be published only on the notice boards of the sub-registrar offices under which the applicants belong.

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Public Works (PWD) and Registration G. Sudhakaran has instructed to put a hold on the practice of publishing the application forms for marriages under Special Marriage Act on the registration department website. The decision was taken considering the complaints regarding community propaganda and threats made using the details of the marriage notices.

Since 2019, after the services of Registration department became online, the marriage applications containing photos and addresses and other details were published on its website.

Now, as per the new order, the notices are to be published only on the notice boards of the sub-registrar offices under which the applicants belong.

The decision in this regard was shared by Minister Sudhakaran on Facebook terming it as a historic amendment in Special Marriage Act.
