Thiruvananthapuram: In a startling revelation, former minister and CPI leader C Divakaran has levelled serious allegations against Justice G Sivarajan, who chaired the solar judicial inquiry commission.
Divakaran alleged that Justice G Sivarajan accepted crores to prepare a report against former Chief Minister Oommeen Chandy in the controversial 2013 Kerala solar scam.
The UDF government led by Oommeen Chandy appointed the commission after it came to light that the main accused, Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha S Nair, directors of a solar energy company, allegedly collected advance amounts from several people by offering to make them business partners. Further, the prime accused named Chief Minister's office and other prominent leaders in the scam.
Based on the report, the first Pinarayi Vijayan cabinet announced the decision to register case against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other UDF leaders.
C Divakaran, a former Minister of Food and Civil Supplies under VS Achuthanandan-led government, claimed that "Rs 4 or Rs 5 crores is accepted" by the commission to prepare a shady report.
He added that Oommeen Chandy wanted to resign from his position but stood his ground due to insistence from Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.
Meanwhile, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan confirmed Divakaran's claim that he played a part in ending LDF's protest and announcing a judicial probe into the scam.
Following the revelation, UDF demanded a probe against Sivarajan.
