From (R) Car set on fire, K Vidya.
Kozhikode: A college teacher from Kannur said her car was torched by unknown assailants after she declined K Vidya's demand for more internal marks.
Vidya is accused of forging documents to secure a guest lecturer position in a government college.
Dr P Prajitha, who was Vidya’s Malayalam teacher at Payyannur college, says, “The incident happened a few years ago. My car was set on fire days after I denied extra marks to Vidya, who was my student back then. She had received 8 out of 10, but demanded full marks. She was an active member of SFI at Payyannur college as well. I did not mention her name in the complaint considering her future,” Prajitha said.
“Back then, SFI leaders often attacked students and teachers who stood against their interests. Another teacher's vehicle was torched in a similar manner around the same time. Both of us were active KPCTA members," she said. KPCTA is a pro-Congress teachers’ union.
Prajitha told mathrubhumi.com that she had lodged a complaint about the incident back then. But the police failed to catch the culprits.
As accusations against Vidya pile up, KSU is trying to whip up a political storm over the alleged misconduct of the former activist of SFI.
