Idukki: Authorities closed down a hotel in Idukki based on a complaint filed by college students after allegedly finding worms in egg curry served to them.

The college students on tour from Kozhikode reportedly noticed the presence of worms in their dishes when they attended a restaurant 'Vagaland' in Vagamon on Friday morning. Following this, students protested, forcing authorities to close down the hotel.

Two students received worms from curry served to them. Some students had uneasiness. While some others started to vomit.

Over this, the students protested and complained to the authorities. Some of the students who showed dizziness were taken to the hospital.

The students also alleged that hotel owners and workers tried to assault them.

Later, an inspection of the hotel revealed that food was prepared and stored in unhygienic conditions. In the past, the hotel was penalised for storing food without ensuring hygiene. It was close downed one month ago. The new development comes after the operations resumed.
