Kottayam: Students of CMS College in Kottayam cut their hair in protest of the attack on college students in the city on Monday night. The students and teachers of the college attended the protest event held on campus on Wednesday.

The incident leading to the protest happened at around 10:30 PM on Monday. The college girl, accompanied by her male classmate, was attacked after questioning inappropriate remarks made by men that came in a car.

The students were on the way to the hostel to gather clothes for a friend admitted to the hospital. Briefly, they stopped at a public eatery near Thirunakkara. At the time, the accused arrived at the spot in a car and made offensive remarks targeting the girl. The boy who accompanied the girl questioned their behaviour. The students backed away after fearing that the situation would spiral out of control.

However, the accused chased the students and stopped them while returning from the college hostel after fetching the clothes for their friend. The students were dragged from their bikes and assaulted. The locals rushed to the spot after hearing the girl's cry for help. Later, both were taken to the hospital for treatment with the help of patrol police and their friends.
