Collector’s report confirms lapses from police on caning MLA during CPI march
Ernakulam: The report submitted by district Collector to Chief minister, on the incident of attack on Muvattupuzha MLA Eldho Abraham and other CPI activists during a protest march, confirmed that lapses occurred from police’s part, it is learnt. The scan report showed that there is a fracture on MLA’s left arm.
The report observed that lathi charge against the CPI march could have been avoided. But police failed to do so. Also the report suspects whether all the rules to be followed during a lathi charge were abided.
At the same time, the report also said that prior police permission was not obtained for CPI march and the same was sought only in the same morning.
CPI activists provoked the police. They destroyed the barricades put in place and pelted stones at them, the report further said. Evidences showing injuries of MLA was handed over to Collector.
“I handed over the CT scan report to Collector, as allegations were raised against me,” the MLA said.
