Collapsed Koolimadu bridge
Thiruvananthapuram: Action to be taken against two officers, including the Executive engineer and Assistant engineer, over the collapse of beams of the Koolimadu bridge. PWD Minister Mohammed Riyas gave instructions to the PWD secretary over the matter. It has also been instructed that the contract company should pay the compensation for the Public Works Department.
The Public Works Department has been instructed to continue the work on the bridge by taking the necessary precautions.
Three of the beams of the Koolimadu bridge had toppled over into the river during construction. There were many protests over this. The vigilance panel of PWD investigation headed by the Deputy Engineer of PWD was initiated. The construction works of the bridge were completely stopped following that.
