CMP stakes claim for vacant RS seat; Liju, Pacheni, Balram among Cong probables

Thiruvananthapuram: Communist Marxist Party (CMP) has reiterated its claim for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat in the UDF. Congress has told CP John that it will consider the claim.

CMP at present does not have any representation in the parliament or the assembly. It has been staying loyal to the UDF and its leader John is highly vocal in the media in support of the front, CMP put forth as the eligibility.

However, a group of Congress leaders think that considering the national situation, a party leader should go to the RS.

Congress leaders M Liju, Satheesan Pacheni and VT Balram are on the shortlist of the probable candidates. If the party decides to field a woman leader, it can be Bindhu Krishna, Shanimol Usman or Lali Vincent.

However, senior leaders are also eyeing the seat. Mullappally Ramachandran, KV Thomas and MM Hassan wish to contest, it is learnt.
