Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged the public to provide water to all living beings including birds and animals in the scorching summer season. In a Facebook post, the Chief Minister asked the public to keep water in a pot or coconut shell for the birds and animals.
“A small step of us will save a life,” recommended Pinarayi Vijayan.
He also warned that chances of wild animals straying to villages as water resources have started to dry up in forests.
“The forest department has taken action to supply water to forest for the creatures. Steps are taken to make temporary pools to reserve water. Forest officials have been alerted to take necessary action if animals stray into villages in search of water,” wrote the Chief Minister in his Facebook post.
The Chief Minister made the Facebook post following the three sunstroke deaths in the state on Sunday. A total of 111 people suffered sunburns within 10 days due to the soaring temperature.
