CM seeks ideas from young bureaucrats to enhance popularity of govt
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is approaching the young civil servants seeking ‘tips’ to improve popularity of the government. A special meeting of young civil service officers will be held on Tuesday looking out for innovative ideas to make the government more popular ahead of the elections.
The chief minister will meet former chief secretaries and former DGPs ahead of the meeting on Tuesday. The chief minister had asked various community and people’s organisations to convey about the welfare activities of the government.
The chief minister has invited the civil service officers who joined Kerala cadre after 2009. The suggestions should be emailed to the office of the chief minister prior to the meeting. The ways to convey the people regarding the government’s activities will be sought.
Majority of the officials implement the government schemes with clear idea of its intentions to help the common people. However, the attitude of a few officials hinder the public from availing the benefits of the schemes, according to the message from the office of the chief minister. The civil service officers should give suggestions to change this.
Earlier, the CPM had decided that the organisations under the party should take up the campaigns of the government following the door-to-door visit after the Lok Sabha poll debacle. The leaders came to know that people are not aware of the government schemes for the commoners. Thus the party prepared an action plan that need to be implemented upto the branch level.
Also the community and people’s organisations can be part of the mission. A meeting of department secretaries and police officers also was convened. The government expect to collect the suggestions of retired officials based on their experience.
According to the CPM direction, the ministers need to focus on completing the already declared projects rather than announcing new ones and settle the complaints of the public. At present, the chief minister is trying to implement the party decision at organisational and administrative levels.
