Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president K Sudhakaran on Wednesday said that with the arrest of M Sivasankar, all the “lies” told by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have started to fall apart. Pinarayi Vijayan's former Principal Secretary, M Sivasankar, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the LIFE Mission scam case.

Sudhakaran remarked that Chief Minister would face a jail term if the state government withdraws an appeal filed against the CBI investigation into the matter.

The KPCC president said the details of the corruption that happened during the first Pinarayi Vijayan-led government are coming out one after the other.

"Sivasankar, who spent 98 days in jail for money laundering and gold smuggling cases, was reinstated to government service by the chief minister. He was allowed to retire with all benefits," Sudhakaran said.

He alleged that Sivasankar is the keeper of many secrets relating to the chief minister.

The Congress leader claimed that the government thwarted the vigilance investigation into the Life Mission project three years ago. "The government dismissed the team that probed the case and transferred officials after they unearthed some incriminating pieces of evidence," he added.

Sudhakaran also remarked that the government launched a swift raid to get hold of crucial documents before CBI was called to investigate the case.

The move to question the chief minister’s private secretary CM Raveendran was also thwarted, the KPCC president added.

Sudhakaran also claimed that top government figures have extorted the fund received from UAE Red Crescent to help the needy in the state. "The government spent lakhs to appoint top lawyers in Supreme Court and High Court against CBI probe."

The KPCC president further said the government opposed CBI's move to expand the investigation abroad in the bribery case.

He also pointed out that the CBI investigation got delayed due to an agreement between the CPM and the BJP.
