CM Pinarayi seeks speedy approval of transportation projects, stops short of mentioning SilverLine

Kochi: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan sought the help of the union government for speedy completion of various infrastructure projects in the transport sector, at the event held here on Thursday, in the presence of PM Narendra Modi.

Mentioning the progress in the widening of the National Highway, CM requested the PM to approve the transportation projects of the state as soon as possible. However, he did not mention the SilverLine semi high-speed rail project.

The state government is awaiting the final nod of the union government in the SilverLine project. However, the finals signals received from the railway ministry have not been bright.

Prime Minister Modi on Thursday inaugurated various projects, including that of the Indian Railways and Kochi Metro, which would improve connectivity in Kerala and said these would help in boosting tourism and commerce in the southern state.

The Prime Minister, who is on a two-day visit to the state, inaugurated, laid the foundation stone of and dedicated to the nation, railway and metro projects in the state worth Rs 4,500 crore.
