CM must answer for 450 lives lost during floods: Ramesh Chennithala
Kozhikode: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has demanded that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan must answer for the loss of 450 lives during the devastating floods.
Government’s negligence created the floods. The UDF’s earlier statement has now been proved right, said Ramesh Chennithala. He was responding to the amicus curiae report which pointed out that lapse in dam management caused the devastating flood last year. The report also demanded a judicial probe to find the reason behind flood.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the amicus curiae report was a slap on the face of the state government.
The 49-page explanatory report submitted by Jacob P Alex at the high court stated that dams were opened without abiding by the criteria. It demanded a judicial probe to find if opening of the dams without considering the guidelines and issuing warnings, had caused the disaster.
