CM lauds Mathrubhumi-CMID study report on Kerala floods
Kochi: Unity will help overcome any adversity, was the lesson Kerala learned from the floods, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Sunday.
He was addressing a gathering after presenting the Mathrubhumi-CMID study report on Kerala floods. The CM also lauded Mathrubhumi for taking initiative to prepare the report.
“Kerala was united in facing the huge losses created by the devastating deluge. Everyone was involved in rescue and relief activities. That’s how the world started to watch Kerala. Despite the floods causing huge losses, everyone got involved in rebuilding activities. Everyone took it as an opportunity to rebuild the state,” the CM said.
“Rebuilding Kerala project is moving ahead effectively. Preparations are on to implement different projects by combining various departments. Despite financial constraints, efforts are on to implement the projects effectively,” Pinarayi Vijayan said. The CM also requested cooperation form everyone in rebuilding Kerala.
Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan, who accepted the study report from the CM, opined that the document could be used as guide to rebuild Kerala.
Mathrubhumi joint managing director M. V. Shreyams Kumar, Adv. Anil Kumar and Muralee Thummarukudy, Chief of Disaster Risk Reduction in the UN Environment Programme were among those present.
