CM knows who all received iPhones, alleges K Surendran
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president K Surendran raised a fresh salvo against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the iPhone row. He stated that the CM must be aware of the people who received the iPhones from Unitac owner. He also alleged that Pinarayi Vijayan’s family has close connection with Swapna Suresh.
“CM has introduced Swapna to Sivasankar. Did CM give any factual statement while responding on the row?" asked the BJP leader.
Sivasankar possessed one iPhone among the 5 phones distributed by the contractor of the Life Mission housing Project. CM is responsible to give an explanation regarding this as Sivasankar received the phone while serving as principal secretary to CM.
Responding to the controversy, CM had stated that UAE consulate and contractors are linked to the project. Then he should clarify how Sivasankar received the iPhone under the project from Unitac MD Santhosh Eapen, demanded Surendran.
The BJP state president alleged that the state government is trying to sabotage the probe into the Life Mission project in Wadakanchery by ordering vigilance probe and approaching HC against the CBI probe.
The phone received by Sivasankar is clear evidence to identify the people who are involved in the Life Mission corruption, he added.
“Vigilance is going to obtain custody of Swapna and Sandeep over the probe into Life Mission case. If the central investigation agencies fail to intervene in the case, vigilance will sabotage all the evidence after getting them in custody," said Surendran.
He said that the government has ordered for vigilance probe as part of the bid to destroy evidence against CM and his partners in the crime. “Vigilance is not carrying out the probe efficiently. The central agencies should realize the fact. Vigilance is seeking custody of Swapna to teach her on what all needs to be revealed,” said Surendran.
He also alleged that the voice clip released by Swapna while absconding from the probe team was produced on the direction of CPM. “Now, CPM is unable to control the situation. So they are making vigilance to take custody of Swapna and others in the case,” added Surendran.
