Thiruvananthapuram: CPM Central Committee member AK Balan said that the chief minister has no interest to react over the controversy that erupted regarding the allegations over AI-enabled surveillance cameras. The CM is not responding as an investigation is currently progressing.
AK Balan pointed out that the CM has ordered a Vigilance probe soon after he received a complaint. Later, the head of the administrative department was also entrusted with another probe in view of the recurring accusations against the contract.
Balan further questioned what the Chief Minister was expected to say to the opposition leader while the investigations were ongoing. He accused the opposition of concocting various allegations against the government and suggested that it was not necessary for the Chief Minister to respond to all of them.
“Most of the projects were subjected to changes according to the conditions of tender. Vigilance is investigating if there is any corruption. The CM has no interest to respond at this juncture. Even if he reacts, the opposition will again accuse him of interfering in the probe,” said AK Balan.
The CM and the government are not scared of any kind of investigation, said AK Balan.
