Kochi: The appointment of Dr Ciza Thomas as Vice Chancellor in–charge of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) is only an interim action, said Governor Arif Mohammed Khan here on Friday.

The Governor, who is also the Chancellor, gave the explanation in the high court in reply to the petition filed by the state government challenging the appointment. The hearing of the plea has been postponed to November 23 after the government sought time to reply to the explanation.

Meanwhile, the government has also responded to the affidavit filed by Ciza Thomas the other day justifying the chancellor’s decision giving her the charge of vice chancellor.

In the affidavit, the government stated that Ciza Thomas does not possess the necessary qualifications prescribed by the UGC for the VC post.
