Kannur: Owner of Porkkali Steels in Mathamangalam, which was shut on account of the threats of CITU, requested to facilitate opening of the enterprise.

CITU workers are not permitting the staff employed by the company to work, alleged TV Mohanlal, owner of Porkkali Steels during a press conference. Porkkali Steels was established only two and a half years ago.

According to the settlement made with the CITU, the unloading works were entrusted to the union workers while the loading works to the employees of the company. However, the union workers are currently demanding to allocate both loading and unloading works to them, said TV Mohanlal. He accused the union workers of obstructing the vehicles carrying loads to the company and deflating their tyres.

The wages of the union workers are too high to afford. Besides this, the union workers will not be available at any time, said Mohanlal.
