CITU drivers form WhatsApp group to observe police movements in Kannur


The group concentrates around Peringom region in the district where numerous quarries function. The group is allegedly formed to observe police moves and share information on inspections.

Kannur: A WhatsApp group was constituted here to observe police. The group christened ‘CITU Drivers’ was formed to inform and share the actions and moves of police. It is reported that the admins of the group which has over 90 members are CPM’s local leaders. However, police have initiated a probe into the matter.

The group concentrates around Peringom region in the district where numerous quarries function. The group is allegedly formed to observe police moves and share information on inspections.

The voice messages shared in the group indicates that each and every movement of the police are shared in the group. The positions of police vehicles and its movements are also shared in the group.

Police are of the assumption that the group is functioning to aid quarry mafia and laterite smugglers. The matter has been informed to Taliparamaba DySP Ratnakumar under whom a probe is on.
