Church dispute: Govt to hold discussion with Orthodox – Jacobite factions
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has decided to hold a discussion with Orthodox and Jacobite factions on July 11 at Thaikkad Government Guest House in Thiruvananthapuram to settle the dispute between two factions over the administration of Piravam and Kothamangalam churches.
This is the third time that the government is holding discussions with the two factions. Since the two factions stood firm on their stance, there wasn’t any positive outcome from the last two discussions.
A cabinet sub-committee appointed by the government, will convene the consensus meet. Minister for Industries EP Jayarajan will be the convenor of the committee.
The decision to hold discussions over the issue was taken as the court heavily came down on the government regarding the case.
However, the Orthodox faction claims that the discussion has no relevance as the court ruled in favour of them.
