Pathanamthitta: A brawl broke out between some drunken bus workers following Christmas celebrations here on Sunday. As the fight escalated, police intervened and cancelled the scheduled trip of the bus to Bengaluru.

According to reports, the workers of Kallada bus which operate service from Pathanamthitta to Bengaluru created a ruckus at a petrol pump near Pathanamthitta stadium junction. The bus was scheduled to leave for Bengaluru at 5.00 pm. But the workers were busy with Christmas celebrations. Following the party, an argument between the intoxicated men ended up in a street fight.

The bus cleaner is a Kannur native and the drivers are migrant workers. As the quarrel turned violent, the onlookers informed the police.

After finding the workers in an inebriated condition, the police directed the bus operator to cancel the trip.

Police took the three workers into custody. They will be taken for a medical test as part of the procedures.

The bus operator will arrange another bus for the passengers who were left stranded following the issue.
