Kannur: The body parts of an identified person were found on Monday inside an abandoned trolley bag in a pit near Makutta Ghat road, which connects Kerala and Karnataka.

According to reports, the body parts were in completely deteriorated condition, and a foul smell was emerging from it.

The parts were recovered by Karnataka forest officials, following which police were intimated. Virajpet Police has already initiated a probe.

The person seemed to have died more than two weeks before it was recovered. The body was seen as four chopped pieces. Prima facie, the body parts appear to be of a young woman.

The body parts were taken to Virajpet Taluk Hospital. As the trolley bag was found 15 km away from the Kerala border probe will be extended to the state too, police said.
