Pathanamthitta: Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar and minister Veena George seem to be on better terms after the incident where the former slammed the minister. Both the MLA and the minister attended the inauguration ceremony of EMS stadium in Koduman. Gopakumar had raised sharp criticism against Minister Veena George saying that the minister who holds the charge of Pathanamthitta district does not discuss matters with the MLAs and that she rarely answers her phone when contacted. They sat on either side of Minister V Abdurahman and exchanged a few words with each other. Gopakumar is the MLA from Adoor constituency in which Koduman is included.
Chittayam Gopakumar was asked to preside over the ‘Ente Keralam’ Mega Exhibition in connection with the state government's first anniversary, but he was not present there. He said that he was informed about it only the night before.
Minister Veena George had filed a complaint against Gopakumar with LDF leadership for raising public criticism against her. She said it was not right to condemn her publicly and that he was making nonfactual statements against her.
CPM District Secretary K P Udayabhanu had backed the minister in the matter. CPI District Secretary A P Jayan had responded to this, resulting in a rift between the parties.
