Chief Secretary uses DGP’s luxury car; more irregularities in Kerala Police come to light
Thiruvananthapuram: After the CAG report uncovered irregularities in Kerala Police department, more and more instances of lapses from police department are coming to light. According to reports, Chief Secretary Tom Jose has been using a luxury car purchased in the name of DGP Loknath Behera. It is also alleged that the car for Chief Secretary was purchased by illegally spending the Police Renovation Fund.
Documents of Motor Vehicle Department proved that the official vehicle which is a Jeep Compass carrying the number KL 1 CL 9663 used by Chief Secretary was registered in the name of DGP. The Chief Secretary started to use the vehicle recently.
According to reports, the vehicle was registered in 2019. It costs above Rs 15 lakh.
It is learned that normally Chief Secretary should not use the vehicle of police department as official vehicle. Now, the purchase of vehicle for Chief Secretary by spending the fund for police department has triggered another controversy. As per rules, Chief Secretary is entitled to use vehicles of only tourism department.
