Chicken pox cases increase rapidly in Kasaragod district, officials ask public to exercise caution

Kanhangad: Chicken pox cases have increased rapidly in Kasaragod district with the summer heat intensifying across the state.

According to the health department, 469 cases were reported in Kasaragod district since January 1. The district also recorded 84 cases so far this month.

AV Ramdas, district medical officer, had warned people to exercise caution as the number of cases rapidly increased in recent days.

Meanwhile, health officials advised teachers and parents to pay more attention to students showing symptoms of chicken pox. The students attending examinations must be allowed to sit in rooms with proper ventilation. Further, students, who contracted chicken pox, should refrain from attending exams and avoid public transport to attend schools. Further, authorities also requested parents to avoid sending students to school if they show symptoms of chicken pox.
