Mohammed Riyas and Jayasurya
Actor Jayasurya posted a statement as giving an explanation over his criticism on the poor condition of roads in Kerala. While addressing an event, the actor had said that there will be no roads in Cherrapunji if we blame the rain for the pitiful condition of the roads. Jayasurya was speaking at an event invited by Minister Mohammed Riyas. As his comments made headlines, Jayasurya took to his Facebook page and penned an explanation. In his Facebook post, he clarified that he criticised the poor condition of roads in Kerala after seeking permission from the minister.
He added that he sought the minister's permission to speak frankly while addressing the event.
Jayasurya noted that the minister had told him that he was invited to the event because of his open-minded nature.
“Riyas is a minister who wants positive changes in the state. He is a minister who listens to people’s voice and values it. He had promised that all issues raised at the event will be addressed," wrote Jayasurya on his Facebook.
He also lauded the minister for taking the bold step to display the name and contact details of the contractor in charge of the work on each road.
"Such a revolutionary move which is only seen in foreign countries will come into force in Kerala too. The contractor will be responsible for any damage to the road. So, allowing the public to audit the road works will uphold the democratic nature of the government. I am proud of minister Riyas' efforts and have hope in the upcoming developmental activities” reads the actor's FB post.
