Wayanad: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday demanded cancellation of all appointments of leaders’ kith and kin in key government and PSU posts in the wake of the recent controversy involving Minister E P Jayarajan and MP P K Sreemathy.

He said a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act should be registered against those who are guilty.

Chennithala said the Chief Minister should rethink if E P Jayarajan should be allowed to remain in Minister’s post even after CPM veteran V S Achuthanandan spoke against him.

The kin were appointed in key posts of PSUs without following eligibility criteria or necessary procedures, he said.

Meanwhile, referring to the self-financing issue, Chennithala alleged that the government is losing cases regarding medical admission in courts purposefully. It is the stubbornness of the Chief Minister that messed up the issue, he said, adding that the Opposition will continue its struggle against the hefty fee hike by self-financing medical colleges.

Jayarajan should be removed from Minister’s post: Sudheeran

sudheeranThiruvananthapuram: KPCC President V M Sudheeran said that E P Jayarajan, who is mired in controversy over appointment of his relative in plum PSU post, should be removed from the Minister’s post.

“It is pure nepotism, corruption and a violation of Constitution,” Sudheeran said. ‘It is hard to believe the argument that the appointments were made without the knowledge of the Chief Minister,” he added.
