Chennithala, K Surendran demand Jaleel’s resignation
Thiruvananthapuram: Congress and BJP have started attacking minister KT Jaleel with the NIA summoning him for interrogation on Thursday. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded that Jaleel should decide on resigning from minister’s post after the interrogation.
“KT Jaleel should resign from the post of minister without waiting for more humiliation. While leaving the NIA office after the interrogation, he should decide on his resignation. It is for the first time, ED and NIA are interrogating a minister in Kerala,” said Ramesh Chennithala.
He pointed out that NIA interrogation is a serious matter of concern.
“The Chief Minister is also worried that he will face interrogation. Jaleel has committed serious offences. It is a fact. But still, the Chief Minister continues to protect Jaleel. This stand is a disgrace to Kerala,” condemned the opposition leader.
Meanwhile, BJP state president K Surendran also criticized the Chief Minister over Jaleel issue.
“Is the CM going to give any justification over the interrogation of Jaleel by NIA?. Now, everyone will look into his response over the matter. Two national agencies have identified Jaleel’s offences. This fact confirms that BJP’s allegations over Jaleel’s involvement in gold smuggling case were true,” said Surendran.
“Chief Minister should demand Jaleel's resignation. If he is not resigning, more people will stage protest in the state,” he added.
“NIA holds all scientific methods to establish the truth. Hence, Jaleel would not be able to survive with false statements. The Chief Minister is justifying Jaleel realizing that more ministers, including himself, will come under the scanner of the probe soon. Such justifications will not have any scope before the judiciary,” said Surendran.
