Chennithala demands police probe into allegations centered around CM’s office
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded a probe into the gold smuggling case involving prime suspect Swapna Suresh. In a letter, he also demanded the Kerala police to register an FIR.
The NIA which has taken over the case registered an FIR and will probe if the proceeds of the smuggled gold were used for financing terrorism. However, Chennithala in the letter sent to the DGP wanted more facts to be investigated.
Chennithala said that allegations related to the CM’s office must be investigated. The state machinery has been misused in the case. The key suspect Swapna Suresh had used the logo of the Kerala Government in her visiting cards and met many high profile officials telling them to be a government official.
There are also allegations that the gold smuggled was taken from the airport in the official vehicle of the government. When such serious allegations remain, Chennithala wanted a probe by the Kerala police as the NIA will be probing in a different angle.
The CM wanted to know why the opposition delayed in filing the complaint when the allegations were raised then. In response to that, the opposition leader forwarded a letter demanding a comprehensive probe into all these allegations.
