Chennithala demands CM’s explanation on UAE aid
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded that the chief minister should give an explanation in the UAE financial aid issue. Earlier, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others had clarified that UAE promised an aid of Rs 700 crore for the rebuilding mission of Kerala that was hit by the wrost floods of the century.
However, UAE ambassador made it clear on Friday that the amount to be contributed to Kerala as relief aid has not been fixed yet. Following this, the opposition leader demanded an explanation from the chief minister.
Chennithala also demanded that the debts of the flood victims should be written off and a Rs 10,000 should be distributed for those who return from the relief camps immediately. He added that not even a single rupee was given to people in Kuttanadu.
No alerts were issued regarding the opening of dams except for Idukki dam. Chennithala alleged that what hit Kerala was not a flood disaster, but a dam disaster. The district administration has to be cautious while coordinating the relief activities. He also blamed that free ration was not supplied despite the promises.
