Chengannur MLA KK Ramachandran Nair passes away
Chennai: Chengannur MLA KK Ramachandran Nair passed away at Apollo hospital in Chennai on Sunday at 4 am. He was undergoing treatment for liver disease.
KK Ramachandran Nair, who was a lawyer, was an active politician since his college days. He worked for SFI district committees in Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram. He was the Law College Union chairman of SFI.
He continued his Left Front politics after college and joined CPM. He won elections after working as CPM area secretary. Though he was defeated in the assembly elections in 2011, he won the election in 2016 by beating PC Vishnunath for 7983 votes.
KK Ramachandran Nair who was a scholar in Carnatic music served as president of a popular cultural association at Chengannur.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker P Sreeramakrishanan, CPI leader Kannam Rajendran, were among those who condoled his death.
The body is expected to be brought to the state capital by an air ambulance this evening and the last rites will be held tomorrow.
