Charred remains of 3 family members found inside house in TVM

Thiruvananthapuram: The charred remains of a couple and their daughter were found inside a house in Kadinamkulam on Friday.

According to police, the family committed suicide due to debt-related issues. The deceased has been identified as Rameshan (48), his wife Sulaja Kumari (46), and daughter Reshma (23). Their bodies were found in the bedroom.

Rameshan returned from Gulf on Thursday. At around 12:30 am, neighbours heard a large explosion sound and fire from the house. However, the house was found to be locked from inside. By the time locals managed to break into the house, all three family members were dead. Further, the door leading to the bedroom was blocked using Almirah and other furniture. The effort to douse the fire through windows went in vain.

Relatives said that Rameshan had a huge debt and struggled financially. The family was also facing eviction from the house over failing to repay bank loan. His effort to sell his property to pay off debts also failed to materialise.
