Pala: Kerala Police nabbed a gang for collecting money from people by claiming it was for the treatment of a 1-year-old child. Safeer (38), Lenil (28), and Jomon (28) were arrested for collecting money by using the name of a girl undergoing treatment for blood cancer at RCC Thiruvananthapuram.

The gang collected money by printing a flex board with a picture of the child and claiming she needed bone marrow transplant surgery. Upon finding their activity suspicious, police contacted the phone number mentioned in the flex. The police found that the parents haven't authorised anyone to collect money for treatment. Following this, the police team led by SI Shaji Sebastian took them into custody.

Further questioning revealed the extent of their doings. The money collected through this means was used by the accused for personal gains. Meanwhile, Safeer had a ganja case and an Abkari case registered in Malappuram.
