Chalippuzha river overflowing; 80 residents shifted to relief camp
Chembukadavu: With the Chalippuzha river overflowing, 29 families living in a scheduled tribe colony on the banks of the river have been shifted to a relief camp on Thursday.
The relief camp was opened in Chembukadavu Government UP School in Kodenchery panchayat. There are 80 people living in the camp including children.
A total of 31 families reside in the colony. Two families refused to move to the camp. Authorities are trying to shift them to the camp as soon as possible. There are strong currents in the Chalippuzha river and the water level has risen above Chembukadavu and Parappatta bridges.
Panchayat president Lissy Chacko said that seven families living in Thokkumthottam colony will also have to be shifted to the relief camp.
