Chalakudy: The water level in the Chalakudy river continues to be at the same level as on Thursday, said minister K Rajan.

"Though we still have to remain cautious, it is a relief that the level hasn't risen overnight as we feared," he told the media. The water level continues to be at 7.27 metres for the past few hours, said the minister.

The inflow from Peringalkuthu dam is continuing at the rate of 35,000 cusecs on an average. At one point, it touched 37,000 cusecs, said the minister.

The Thrissur and Palakkad districts did not receive rain as anticipated. The rain in Nelliyampathy would affect the inflow to the Parambikulam and Thoonakkadavu dams.

The rain predictions expected to come at 12 in the noon are crucial, added Rajan.
