Munnar: Amidst news about the successful translocation of rice-eating wild jumbo ‘Arikomban’ in Tamil Nadu, another lone tusker ‘Chakkakomban’ has reportedly wreaked havoc in the national highway near Chinnakanal, Idukki.

The incident took place near Anayirankal Dam on Wednesday night. As per reports, the jumbo roamed around the region for almost an hour and attacked a parked car and destroyed small roadside shops. Traffic on the highway was also disrupted due to the jumbo attack.

Meanwhile, the health condition of Arikomban, which was captured and translocated to Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR) by Tamil Nadu forest department officials on Monday, continues to be stable.

In a video shared by a Tamil Nadu civil service officer on Wednesday evening, the tusker was seen “soaking in the calm and beauty of his new home.”
