Thiruvananthapuram: ‘Very heavy rain’ to lash Kerala in the next two days, according to a forecast by the Central Meteorological Department. As a precautionary measure, orange alert has been declared in Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Saturday. On Sunday, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts will be under orange alert. Yellow alert has also been issued in many districts till Monday.

By using the term 'very heavy rainfall', the department expects a rainfall of 115.5 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours. Many places may receive isolated rainfall of over 204.4 mm these days, says the report.

August 28 - Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasaragod
August 29 - Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod
August 30 - Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod
