Kochi: The Kerala High Court said that people cannot be allowed to peep into their neighbour's house through CCTV cameras in the name of security. Justice VG Arun said that the state police chief should issue guidelines regarding the instalment of CCTV cameras after consulting with the government.

An Ernakulam native had filed a petition stating that the CCTV camera installed by her neighbour was focusing on her house. She alleged in the petition that her privacy was being breached by this.

The court has accepted the petition. The state police chief was included as party suo motu, to give the instructions.
