The five-mark question asked the students to write down five features of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Thiruvananthapuram: A controversy erupted after the CBSE examination for class 10 included questions about BJP and Congress, two leading political parties in India. The question was included in the social science examination of class 10 students held on Wednesday.

The set 2 question paper asked the students to write down five features of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while set 3 question paper asked to write features of Congress. Set 1 question paper asked about the challenges faced by political parties.

When asked about the same, the CBSE gave an explanation that politics is an important part of the social science.
